School of Business

Istanbul University Business School was first settled in Beyazıt campus, in 1968; later it moved to Rumeli Hisarüstü Campus in 1983, and finally, in 1989 it has been moved to its final location, Avcılar campus.

Istanbul University has been established in 1453. Richard Honig, a German law historian, who claims that Byzantine and Ottoman traditions could be analyzed together, expressed that the history of Istanbul University can be traced back to March 1st, 1321. The university, which was first established in today’s main building, was equivalent to Roman universities consisting of schools of medicine, law, philosophy, and letters, is considered to be the pioneer of university education in Istanbul.İstanbul University Institute of Business Economics, which was founded in 1954 by Harvard Business School and which is the first institution to offer Graduate Programs in Europe, gave its roots to the first Business School of Turkey in 1968; IUBS. Today the IUBS embraces the Institute of Business Economics, which offers programs for graduate students, both MSc and MBA. Various Ph.D. programs are also lectured in IUBS under the constitution of the Institute of Social Sciences.
